So it's been awhile...Ok, it's been over 3 years since I wrote a little diddy, but I've been busy saving the world! Actually, my wife asked me why I stopped blogging, and I didn't really have an answer for her. So, I went back and looked at some of the stuff I had written and after 3 years it felt like someone else had written it. I was actually laughing at my own writing! :) I know what you're thinking, you're the only one who laughs at it, but seriously, I did wonder why I stopped writing. I enjoy it and it makes me laugh, and that's really the only reason I need, right? So enough about why I'm writing again, and on to the task at hand. The task at hand being about girls...2 girls to be precise.
So, to all those boys out there who grew up playing sports and actually came out with the ability to still procreate-kudos! As part of my dad duty it is my job to teach my 2 daughters how to play sports. Or at least make an attempt. So last week I was out shooting some hoops with my 2 daughters. I've done this tons of times, but this particular time my oldest girl saw me dribbling the ball through my legs and stopped to ask me how I did that. I responded by simply saying, "practice," but what really flashed through my head was the boy on the banister. Yes, it was true that I had practiced many times dribbling the ball through my legs, and as a lad I was always careful to protect, how do I say..."the future." It was at this moment that both my girls started "practicing" this basketball skill. The difference was their future didn't dangle like a ripe apple ready to be plucked between their legs, so they went at it with abandon! I can't tell you how many times the basketball struck their would be apple, but I can tell you that my future actually started to experience real pain just from watching this scene unfold. I eventually showed them how to spin a basketball on my finger, and the future seemed bright again...Here's to all the dads out there who, like me, could only spawn girls that will never understand what it's like to worry about the "future."
P.S. Some of you may be getting this blog for the first time. Let me know if you don't want it coming directly to your email and I'll take you off the list. Thanks.
